The Divine Comedy: The Inferno, by Dante Alighieri. Translated by John Ciardi. Historical Introduction by A.T. McAllister. Published by Rutger University 1954.
The Divine Comedy: The Inferno, Dante Alighieri's book in which he seeks to complete what the Church Fathers preferred to withdraw their hand from, presents a physical description of the world beyond. He makes use of the clues given to him by the Bible and the New Testament, together with Greek mythology, and builds three sites according to exact technical specifications, and houses the sinners of all kinds and the righteous of all kinds.
